Tokyo CNN —A major Japanese food supplier has recalled more than 100,000 packs of a popular brand of sliced white bread after rat parts were found inside some loaves. They were found in a batch of white “chojuku” bread — or super fermented bread, known for its extra chewy texture — manufactured by a factory based in western Tokyo prefecture, according to the company. White bread is a staple for many Japanese people when they feel like a Western-style meal, or “yoshoku,” as an alternative to traditional Japanese food. Founded in 1920, Pasco is a major supplier of baked goods that employs more than 3,700 staff at 12 factories across the country. CNN —Brittney Griner feared that her plane would be shot down after she was released from detention in Russia, the WNBA star said in a new interview with The Cut. Speaking with former US soccer icon Megan Rapinoe in an interview published in The Cut on Monday, Griner recalled the moment she learned that she was being released. “I got a note underneath my door that said, ‘Be ready at midnight,’ or some late, crazy hour,” she said. I was worried someone might shoot the plane down. The US State Department, however, deemed that Griner had been wrongfully detained, and she was released in December 2022 in a prisoner swap involving Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout.

CNN —While Marvel fans are excited for the super-heroic teamup between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in this summer’s “Deadpool & Wolverine,” there is another character – of the four-legged variety – set to make her debut in the movie as well. “Her real name is Peggy, and she won the award for Britain’s Ugliest Dog,” Reynolds told Empire Magazine in an article published on Tuesday. “It was one of those things where you just keep listening to the movie, and Dogpool became a staple.”According to BBC, Peggy won the unique title of Britain’s ugliest dog in January of 2023. Equipped with her very own “Dogpool” Instagram page, Peggy also appeared in a still from the new movie on Reynolds’ own Instagram in December of last year. “It’s love at first sight,” he told Empire of the bond between his character Deadpool and the pup.
